  • What is the Picnic Pops Concert?
    • The Picnic Pops Concert the finale to UNLV's 50th Anniversary celebration. It is an outdoor concert featuring the Las Vegas Philharmonic and Broadway and recording star Linda Eder. This is UNLV's gift to the Southern Nevada community to show our thanks for 50 years of support.
  • How do I get to UNLV?
    • The UNLV campus is centrally located on Maryland Parkway between Flamingo Road and Tropicana Avenue. Whether you are coming from the Summerlin or Green Valley areas, the university is easily accessible from the I-15, I-215, and I-95 freeways. Get Mapquest Directions
  • Where do I park on campus?
    • The most convenient parking locations for the Picnic Pops Concert are the Parking Garage located off Maryland Parkway and Cottage Grove and the Thomas and Mack Center lot. Shuttle service will be provided from the Thomas & Mack lots. Handicapped parking is available in Lot d in front of the Student Union along Maryland Parkway. This lot will be closed for general parking, and will only be available for handicapped parking. Parking is free of charge on the day of the event. No special permits will be required.   • Where do I sit? Can I bring lawn chairs?
    • The concert stage will be set just north of the Student Union between Wright Hall and Beam Hall. Seating is available on the main Academic Mall.
    • There are several types of seating options including blanket seating, VIP champagne tables and VIP Reserved seating. Visit the tickets and seating page for more information.
    • Lawn chairs will not be allowed as a courtesy to other patrons and due to the limited lawn seating.
  • I'd prefer to have a reserved seat, how do I get tickets? How much do they cost?
    • Reserved VIP Champagne tables and VIP Reserved Seats are available for purchase through the Performing Arts Center box office.

      • VIP Champagne Tables for two (2) $150
      • VIP Reserved Seats $45 each

  • What dining options do I have?
    • You may bring your own food and drink or purchase on site. Options range from pizza, pasta, sandwiches, Taco Bell, and Starbucks through the retail vendors in the Student Union to concession stands, all managed by Sodexho Food Services, the campus food services provider.
    • Guests in the VIP, reserved seating sections also have the option to pre-order food through Sodexho's catering division.
    • Guests may eat at their seats or blanket locations or at one of the picnic areas available on Pida Plaza or the Alumni Walkway (see venue map (PDF) )
  • What about the kids?
    • Although there is no minimum age for admittance, evening concerts like the Picnic Pops are generally not suitable for children under two years of age. Children attending the concert should be able to sit quietly through the two-hour show. Strollers and carrying devices must be kept clear of walkways, and should be folded during the concert so they don't impede other guests' viewing of the show.
    • A variety of pre-event festivities are planned for the day of the event. Many are kid-friendly and will make this event an excellent family outing.
  • What should I wear?
    • Comfortable, cool clothing is suggested (but no bare feet, please!). Be aware that June can be quite warm, even in the evening, and expected daytime temperatures on the day event will most likely be in the mid- to upper- 90's.
  • I'm not familiar with this type of event, what should I expect?
    • Various pre-event festivities are planned for the day of the event. Student and faculty musicians from UNLV's College of Fine Arts will perform from 6 to 7:30 p.m. An activity zone will feature kid-friendly games and prizes, and UNLV's Barrick Museum, art galleries, a xeric garden will be open for your viewing pleasure.
    • The first half of the show will feature the Las Vegas Philharmonic performing a variety of musical favorites many of which will be familiar, even to symphony novices.
    • Following intermission, the Las Vegas Philharmonic will be joined by Broadway and recording star Linda Eder, who will perform a collection of musical standards.
  • When do gates open? When is the concert expected to end?
    • Although there are no "gates" to this event, guests should plan to arrive on campus by 6 p.m. Pre-event festivities will begin at this time.
    • The concert will begin at 8 p.m., and is expected to conclude by 10:30 p.m.
  • May I smoke at the event?
    • The UNLV campus buildings are non-smoking per state law. This event will be held outdoors, and therefore smoking is permitted. However, it is requested that guests be courteous to other patrons when smoking in public.
  • May I bring my own cooler?
    • You may bring food and drink to the Picnic Pops concert, but for the safety of all our patrons and to comply with fire regulations, the aisles and walkways must be kept clear at all times. Therefore, large-sized containers, picnic baskets, or coolers are not encouraged.
    • Re-usable containers (such as Tupperware or sipper bottles) holding food and beverage are permitted, as are wine bottles and wine glasses. NOTE: Pony kegs and party balls are not permissible.
  • What about disability access?
    • Guests requiring special assistance may park in the handicap venue map (PDF).
    • Special handicapped areas will be designated on the Academic Mall for guests who must remain in wheelchairs during the performance.
  • Where are the restrooms located?
    • Public restroom facilities will be provided in the Student Union, Flora Dungan Humanities building, and Tam Alumni Center. View venue map (PDF).
  • Can I buy tickets on the day of the event?
    • Unfortunately, tickets for the reserved seating areas will not be available for purchase on the day of the event. The UNLV Performing Arts Center Box Office will sell tickets until 6 p.m. on Friday, June 6 or until sold out. Will Call is NOT available the day of the event.
